SEA is about 14 miles south of Lumen Field. The Link Light Rail connects Sea-Tac directly to the International District/Chinatown and SODO stations, a short walk from the stadium — about 30 minutes total. One of the best airport-to-stadium transit connections in MLS. A rideshare from SEA runs $30–45.
Lumen Field (shared with the Seattle Seahawks) has adjacent garages and the SoDo neighborhood parking network. Parking is available but fills fast for big Sounders matches. The Link Light Rail is so convenient that most fans skip the parking search entirely.
Seattle Sounders' supporter culture (Emerald City Supporters, Gorilla FC, Fight to the Death) is among the most active in MLS. The pre-match atmosphere around Lumen Field and in the nearby bars on 1st Ave S is exceptional. The tifo displays and supporters' march to the stadium are a genuine spectacle on big match days.
The SODO and Stadium Link stations are a 5-minute walk from Lumen Field — one of the best transit connections in American soccer. The Link connects from Sea-Tac Airport, through downtown, and on to the University District. Sound Transit extends service on match nights.
Lumen Field is in SoDo, walking distance from Pioneer Square and the International District. The pre-match supporters' march from designated gathering points to the stadium is one of the great match day traditions in American soccer — look out for it on big game nights.
Bike parking is available near Lumen Field. Seattle's expanding bike network and the SoDo area trails make cycling from Capitol Hill, the Central District, or downtown a practical option.
Accessible parking is available in the adjacent garages with ADA-designated spaces. The accessible drop-off zone is on Occidental Ave S near the main entrance. For accessibility services, contact Lumen Field at (206) 381-7555.
Lumen Field in Seattle's SoDo neighborhood is home to the Seattle Sounders FC — the club with one of the largest and most passionate supporter bases in MLS. The stadium holds around 37,700 for soccer and the Sounders have regularly sold it out since joining MLS in 2009. The atmosphere, driven by ECS (Emerald City Supporters) and a wide array of supporter groups, is consistently among the loudest and most visually impressive in North American soccer.
The SoDo location is well-served by Link Light Rail to Stadium station, right outside the main gates, connecting fans from across the Seattle metro area. Occidental Avenue S and the surrounding streets have bars and restaurants for pregame, and Pioneer Square is an easy walk. The Sounders' pregame march from Occidental Square is one of the great matchday traditions in MLS — worth participating in or at minimum watching before kickoff.

Lumen Field is an NFL venue shared with the Seattle Seahawks, and the Sounders have made it one of the best atmospheres in North American soccer. The 100 Level midfield sections are close to the touchline with clean views of the full pitch. The ECS supporter section at the south end and the Emerald City Supporters across the stadium make for a genuinely electric environment on big match nights.
Lumen Field’s 200 Level midfield sections give you a solid elevated view of the entire pitch at a step down from the 100 Level. The intermediate level is a good balance of price and sightlines. When the partial roof is closed, these sections are comfortably covered. A solid value choice for most Sounders games.
The upper deck end zone sections at Lumen Field are the main seats to avoid for soccer — distant from the pitch and at poor angles to the goals. This is the common challenge at NFL-shared venues. Lower bowl and 200 Level midfield sections are significantly better. The Sounders’ atmosphere carries throughout the whole stadium, so staying midfield is both a sightline and value improvement.
Lumen Field has partial roof coverage over most seating sections, which is a genuine advantage in a rainy Pacific Northwest city. When Seattle’s summer sun does appear, the east side stands get more direct afternoon exposure. The covered sections stay drier and are more comfortable in the wet weather that characterizes early and late season games. The roof coverage makes Lumen Field more weather-resistant than most NFL-shared soccer venues.
Lumen Field’s partial roof provides more weather protection than most MLS venues, which matters in a city that gets significant rainfall across the season. Most seating sections are at least partially covered. Summer months (July-September) are reliably dry and pleasant in Seattle. Spring and fall games can be wet and cool — a light rain jacket and layers are standard gear for the shoulder season. The Sounders’ atmosphere remains strong regardless of weather.
Value Menu
Save on concessions by shopping the Value Menu located all around the Lumen Field. Head to Sections 149, 109, 116, 124, 135, 214, and 230 for a $5 hot dog. Or grab some fresh $3 popcorn in sections 149, 116, and 124. Locate all our value menu and more concession options HERE.
Hot Dog of the Match
Stop by concessions to grab the Hot Dog of the Match! Every regular season match features the Versus Dog, a special hot dog tailored to the opponent they are playing. The Hot Dog of the Match is at the Pacific Northwest Grill outside of Section 113.
Before every Seattle Sounders home game, thousands of supporters march from Occidental Park in Pioneer Square down to Lumen Field — a tradition that has become one of the great pre-match rituals in American soccer. The March creates a procession of green-and-blue scarves through downtown Seattle that feels as much a community event as a sports ritual.
It doesn’t seem like tailgating is a big deal at Sounders games. Most people hit up the bars and participate in the march to the match.
Possibly 300 for bigger groups. Sounders FC and the visiting team's front office and/or supporter groups arrange the section.

You can find a selection of songs and chants on the Emerald City Supporters website, or on the Sounders website.
In the Stands offers apparel for fans who enjoy visiting ballparks and stadiums. While we all have our favorite teams, there are times when they aren't the ones playing. Our goal is to create a sense of community and camaraderie whenever you see someone wearing In the Stands apparel.
