Hobby is the more convenient airport — 10 miles southeast of Shell Energy Stadium in downtown Houston. A rideshare from Hobby runs $20–30. Bush Intercontinental is further north but still manageable. Neither has a direct transit connection; rideshare is the practical option from either airport.
Shell Energy Stadium is in downtown Houston's East End, adjacent to Minute Maid Park. The surrounding area has a mix of team-operated lots and downtown garages. Rates are very reasonable — $10–20 for most options. The proximity to the Astros complex means parking infrastructure is well-developed.
Houston Dynamo's supporters (El Batallón, Texian Army) gather in the lots around Shell Energy Stadium before matches. The EaDo neighborhood's growing bar scene, including Captain Foxheart's and other East End spots, has become a strong pre-match destination. Check supporter social channels before matches.
The METRORail Red Line's EaDo/Stadium stop is right outside Shell Energy Stadium — one of the most direct transit connections in MLS. The Red Line runs from NRG Stadium and the Medical Center through downtown and onward north. METRO extends service on match nights.
Shell Energy Stadium sits in EaDo, one of Houston's most energetic and fast-developing neighborhoods. The East End bar scene, downtown hotel corridor, and Minute Maid Park area are all walkable. This is a genuinely urban match day experience in a city not always associated with walkability.
Bike parking is available near the stadium. EaDo's growing bike infrastructure and the bayou greenway trail network make cycling from Midtown, the Heights, or the Museum District a genuine option for confident urban cyclists.
Accessible parking is available in designated ADA spaces in the adjacent lots. The accessible drop-off zone is near the main entrance on Polk St. For accessibility accommodations, contact Houston Dynamo at houstondynamo.com.
Shell Energy Stadium is the Houston Dynamo's soccer-specific home in the East Downtown (EaDo) neighborhood. It opened in 2012, holds just over 22,000 fans, and was one of the earlier examples of MLS building purpose-built urban venues rather than sharing with NFL teams. The atmosphere in the supporter section behind the south goal — driven by the Dynamo's vocal support groups — is among the more energetic in the league.
EaDo has transformed significantly since the stadium opened, with breweries, bars, and restaurants now clustered in the blocks around the ground. The METRORail Red Line stops directly at EADO/Stadium, making it easy to get here from downtown and the medical center. It's one of the better matchday neighborhoods in MLS — arrive early to enjoy the area before heading in.

Shell Energy Stadium is a compact soccer-specific venue in downtown Houston. The lower bowl midfield sections are close to the touchline and offer clean views of the full pitch. The stadium has strong supporter culture, particularly in the El Batallon supporter section, and the intimate scale keeps the atmosphere tight.
Shell Energy Stadium’s upper bowl midfield sections give you a solid overhead view of the entire pitch. The compact stadium scale keeps the upper bowl from feeling too far from the action. A good value choice for most games, with the primary trade-off being proximity to the touchline rather than sightlines.
The end goal sections offer steep angles to the far goal and limited views of the full pitch. The El Batallon section is one of the most passionate supporter environments in MLS — great for atmosphere, but it’s standing and focused on creating noise rather than watching the game. Corner sections are similarly restricted. Midfield is the clear choice for traditional game-watching.
Shell Energy Stadium is oriented with the main stand on the west side facing east. The west stand benefits from shade earlier in the afternoon. The east side stands get more direct afternoon sun for evening kickoffs. Houston summer heat and humidity are intense — the shaded west side is significantly more comfortable for any game from May through September.
Unlike the Astros’ Minute Maid Park next door, Shell Energy Stadium has no retractable roof — it’s a fully open-air venue in one of the hottest cities in the country. Summer afternoon kickoffs can be genuinely intense, and hydration is essential. Evening games are significantly more comfortable as temperatures drop slightly after dark. Spring and fall games in Houston are among the most pleasant in MLS.
Main Concourse - Houston's legendary BBQ institution brings their slow-smoked brisket and jalapeño cheese bread to Shell Energy Stadium. A Houston institution with decades of tradition.
Section 112 - Authentic Houston taqueria-style tacos made fresh. The al pastor and barbacoa tacos are exceptional and represent the deep taco culture Houston is rightfully famous for.
Throughout the Stadium - Texas's oldest craft brewery pours their Fancy Lawnmower Kölsch and rotating taps at Dynamo matches. A Houston craft beer staple.
The Dynamo's supporter group El Capitán is among MLS's most creative when it comes to tifo displays. The south end of Shell Energy Stadium comes alive with massive banners, smoke, and coordinated chants that reflect Houston's passionate Latino soccer culture.
Houston Dynamo's supporter sections 115–116 and 215–217 at Shell Energy Stadium are home to El Capitán and allied groups. Standing, drums, flags, and Spanish-language chants create one of MLS's most culturally distinctive supporter atmospheres. Non-Dynamo apparel is not permitted in the supporter sections.
In the Stands offers apparel for fans who enjoy visiting ballparks and stadiums. While we all have our favorite teams, there are times when they aren't the ones playing. Our goal is to create a sense of community and camaraderie whenever you see someone wearing In the Stands apparel.
