John Glenn Columbus International Airport

15

Minutes away

CMH is just 8 miles east of Lower.com Field in downtown Columbus. A rideshare from the terminal runs $15–25. There's no direct transit connection from the airport to the stadium — rideshare is the practical option, and the short distance keeps costs reasonable.

Driving & parking

Driving Tips
Take I-670 to the Grandview Ave or Neil Ave exit. The Arena District is a well-developed entertainment area — parking in any of the Arena District structures puts you a short walk from the stadium. Arrive early to explore the Short North neighbourhood before the match.
Parking Cost Estimate:
$10–$25 (Arena District garages and nearby lots)

Lower.com Field is in the Short North/Grandview area on the western edge of downtown Columbus. Multiple parking garages and surface lots are within a 5–10 minute walk. The stadium is also adjacent to Nationwide Arena and the Arena District, with a large concentration of parking options. Pre-booking is recommended for sellouts.

Tailgating
$10–$25 (Arena District garages and nearby lots)

Columbus Crew's supporters (Hudson Street Hooligans, Nordecke) create a passionate pre-match atmosphere. The Arena District and Short North bars are the primary pre-match gathering spots. Check Crew supporter social channels for organized pre-match events before big matches.

Closest Transit Stop/Station:
High St / W Nationwide Blvd (COTA)
Transit Lines Served:
COTA Bus

COTA bus routes along High St and Nationwide Blvd serve the Arena District area, with stops within a 10-minute walk of Lower.com Field. Columbus doesn't have a rail transit system, so bus or rideshare are the non-driving options. Check cota.com for routes and any game-day service additions.

Walkability Score:
Walkable with a plan
Best Neighborhood to Walk From:
Short North / Arena District

Lower.com Field sits at the southern end of the Short North — one of Columbus's best neighbourhoods for bars, restaurants, and galleries. If you're staying anywhere in the Short North, Arena District, or downtown, walking to the match is easy and the neighbourhood scene makes it genuinely worthwhile.

Bike Parking:

Bike parking is available near the stadium. Columbus has an expanding bike lane network, and the Short North and Arena District are reasonably accessible by bike from the Near East Side, Italian Village, and the downtown hotel corridor.

rideshare

Rideshare drop-off is along Nationwide Blvd near the stadium entrance. Post-match, the Arena District area can get congested on sellout nights — walk a few blocks north toward the Short North along High St for faster pickup.

accessibility

Accessible parking is available in the Arena District garages with ADA-designated spaces. The accessible drop-off zone is near the main stadium entrance on Nationwide Blvd. For accessibility accommodations, contact the Columbus Crew at columbuscrewsc.com.

At the Game

Lower.com Field — known to most fans as the Crew's new stadium — opened in 2021 in the Short North and Italian Village area of Columbus, replacing the old Crew Stadium on the fairgrounds. It holds just over 20,000 fans in a modern, soccer-specific venue with a partial roof, a standing supporter section behind the south goal, and good sightlines throughout. The new stadium brought the club back to the heart of the city after years at a suburban location.

The location in the Short North is a genuine upgrade — one of Columbus's most active neighborhoods, with restaurants, bars, galleries, and coffee shops in every direction. The walk from the Short North's main strip on High Street to the stadium gates takes about five minutes. Parking is available but tight in the neighborhood, so arriving early or using a rideshare is the smarter move. The gameday atmosphere has noticeably improved with the move downtown.

SEATING

Best Seats

Lower bowl midfield sections on either side of the halfway line.

ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is a modern soccer-specific stadium that opened in 2021 in downtown Columbus, replacing the original Crew Stadium. The lower bowl is well-designed and intimate, keeping midfield sections close to the touchline. The downtown location and modern facilities make it one of the better recent MLS stadium builds.

Good Value

Upper midfield sections, which provide a clean elevated view of the full pitch.

The upper bowl midfield sections offer a solid elevated view of the entire pitch at a step down in price. The stadium’s modern design keeps sightlines clean from the top level. A good choice for a casual game or when lower bowl prices are elevated for high-demand matchups.

Avoid These

End goal sections and corners — the Nordecke supporter section at the north end is the place to be for atmosphere, but not for traditional game-watching.

The Nordecke — Columbus’s legendary supporter section — is at the north end and is one of the most passionate supporter environments in MLS. But if watching the full game is the goal, midfield is significantly better. Corner sections also offer restricted sightlines. The Nordecke is worth experiencing for the atmosphere, but go in with the right expectations about the view.

Sun

The east side of the stadium faces west and gets more direct afternoon sun — the west side main stand shades earlier.

ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is oriented with the main stand on the west side, which faces east and benefits from shade earlier in the afternoon. The east side stands get more direct afternoon sun for later kickoffs. Ohio summer afternoons can be warm and humid, making the shaded west main stand the more comfortable choice for afternoon games in July and August.

Weather

Columbus weather means cold spring games and warm humid summers — the season opener and closer in Ohio can require real layers.

ScottsMiracle-Gro Field is open-air in downtown Columbus. Spring games in March and April can be cold and rainy — bring layers for any early-season game. Summer games are warm and occasionally humid but rarely oppressive. Afternoon thunderstorms can occur in summer. Fall games in September and October are typically excellent conditions for soccer.

Special Features

Tipico Sportsbook Biergarten
