Driving & parking

Driving Tips
Take the NJ Turnpike to Exit 15E toward Harrison, then follow the stadium signs. But seriously — the NJ Transit Penn Line from Newark Penn or New York Penn Station is a much better option. Harrison station is a 2-minute walk from the stadium entrance.
Parking Cost Estimate:
$15–$25 (Harrison waterfront lots)

Red Bull Arena has limited on-site parking. The Harrison waterfront area around the stadium has some surface lots. Most fans take the train — NJ Transit makes it so convenient that driving is genuinely not recommended for most fans, particularly those coming from Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Tailgating
$15–$25 (Harrison waterfront lots)

Red Bull Arena's supporter culture is among MLS's most established. The Empire Supporters Club and Garden State Ultras gather near the stadium and along the Harrison waterfront before matches. The area has developed considerably since the stadium opened in 2010 — check supporter social channels for current pre-match meetup spots.

At the Game

Sports Illustrated Stadium (formerly Red Bull Arena) sits in Harrison, New Jersey, just across the Passaic River from Newark, and has been home to the New York Red Bulls since 2010. It's a genuine soccer-specific stadium — 25,000 seats in a steep, covered bowl with excellent pitch proximity and acoustics that hold crowd noise well. The design is among the better MLS venues of its era, and it still feels like a proper soccer ground rather than an adapted football stadium.

Harrison is easy to reach from New York City — the PATH train runs from Newark Penn Station to Harrison Station, which is directly adjacent to the stadium. From Manhattan, you can reach it in under 45 minutes via NJ Transit to Newark, then PATH. The surrounding Harrison neighborhood is modest and still developing, but the transit access makes the location genuinely convenient. The Red Bulls' supporter culture is active and vocal, particularly in the north end supporter section.

SEATING

Best Seats

Lower bowl midfield sections on either side of the halfway line.

Sports Illustrated Stadium (formerly Red Bull Arena) in Harrison, NJ is one of the premier soccer-specific venues in MLS. The lower bowl is steep, intimate, and close to the touchline — midfield sections deliver a genuinely excellent soccer-watching experience. The Red Bulls have a technically sophisticated supporter culture and the atmosphere in the lower bowl is consistently strong.

Good Value

Upper midfield sections, which provide a clean elevated view of the full pitch.

The upper bowl midfield sections at Sports Illustrated Stadium offer a strong elevated view of the entire pitch. The steep bowl design means even the upper sections feel connected to the game. A solid value choice, and the stadium’s soccer-specific design ensures clean sightlines from the upper midfield regardless of where you are.

Avoid These

End goal sections and corner sections — the supporter section at the north end is passionate but limited for traditional game-watching.

The north end supporter section brings strong atmosphere but is standing and loud — great for the experience, less ideal for watching the full game. Corner sections offer restricted sightlines as at any stadium. Midfield in the lower or upper bowl is the consistent choice. The Harrison location near the PATH train makes access straightforward from Manhattan.

Sun

The east side of the stadium faces west and gets more direct afternoon sun — the west side shades earlier.

Sports Illustrated Stadium runs roughly north-south. The east side stands face west and get more direct afternoon sun for evening kickoffs. The west side benefits from shade earlier. New Jersey summer afternoons can be warm and humid — the shaded west side is a comfort advantage for afternoon or early-evening games in summer.

Weather

New York/New Jersey spring weather means cold early-season games — bring layers for any April and May kickoff in Harrison.

Sports Illustrated Stadium is open-air in Harrison, New Jersey. Spring games can be cold, especially in April and early May. Summer games are warm and occasionally humid. The stadium’s bowl design provides some wind shelter. Fall games in September and October are generally excellent conditions. The PATH train connection from Manhattan makes evening game access straightforward regardless of weather.
